There is just something about mountain layers that I absolutely love. And mountains! So, of course, kunanyi / Mount Wellington is one of my favourite places to visit. Strangely, I'd never been up there at sunset. I was definitely missing a sight that can only be described as majestic! I will warn you now that I have probably included more photos in this blog post than necessary, but I really couldn't help myself! Feast your eyes...
Scouting out good vantage points just before sunset. The light at this time was pretty magical as well!
Sunset starting to kick in...
Hobart, all laid out in pink and purple.
Sunset mountain layers - all the heart eyes!
Everything looks better with a light dusting of sunset.
...turning to cotton candy.
If you're hoping to catch sunset on Mount Wellington: (1) It gets cold. No matter how warm (or even hot!) the day is, Mount Wellington in the evening is cold! Dress accordingly. (2) Check the weather conditions. If there's too much cloud cover, you won't be able to see Hobart. Just a whole lot of cotton candy clouds...which is still beautiful, but may not be the reason you're there! (3) Be prepared for a crowd! If you're set on nabbing a prime position, best get there early. If you're not too fussed, the mountain's big enough to still get some beautiful shots.
Have you seen any beautiful mountain layers lately? I'd love to hear about them! Tell me about them in the comments.
